Middle School and High School Particulars
All curriculum must be grade appropriate for the credits claimed.
Students entering 7th grade (or skipping 7th, going into 8th) are required to have an updated HRS 680 form (original) showing that they have received all required boosters. Those with exemptions on file are excluded.
Grades are required to be submitted starting in 8th grade.
Students in 8th grade will be required to take a writing test. 8th grade students who do not pass the 8th grade writing test will be required to retake the 8th grade writing test the following year.
All students in 10th grade must take a writing test. All students who enroll past the 10th grade must take the test as well. In order to receive a diploma from Olivet, a student must pass the 10th grade writing test with a C- or above. These tests are timed with only a dictionary and a thesarus allowed as a writing tool. A workshop will be offered at the Parent Jamboree to assist parents in preparing their student for these tests.
Testing (Iowa Basic Skills test) is mandatory for 3rd - 10th grade. All students must participate in the annual testing provided by Olivet.
The SAT or ACT must be taken prior to high school graduation date.
Those enrolling in 9th through 12th grades (or enrolling for high school credit in 8th grade) must have a separate orientation/credit evaluation interview with the High School Administrator.
Those interested in joining Olivet for purposes of dual enrollment must comply with specific guidelines (see Dual Enrollment page).
All high school students must attend the annual mandatory high school meeting (this counts as one social).
All high school students must attend a minimum of two Olivet high school socials.
